TWO NEW DATES

Filed under: Uncategorized —— rdetorocebenka @ 1:41 pm

Just an FYI!  Your child should have brought home to you an informational sheet on a drug survey that they will be taking on they will be taking on April 28th.  You do not need to do anything for this - UNLESS you do not want them to participate!  If this is the case, simply right a note.  As the letter indicates, the survey is totally anonymous.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Your child will also be participating in ARC.  This is a program that discusses Changes That Occur During Pubert”.  You will be receiving more detailed information about this soon, but the dates for this are 5/4, 5/5, 5/6 and 5/7.

I STORY

Filed under: Uncategorized —— rdetorocebenka @ 8:16 pm

All students in Room 102 wrote “I Stories”.  These were stories about ONE IMPORTANT event in their lives.  The students used the writing skills we were working on: sequential order, transition words, beginning that HOOKS the reader, a middle that has vivid details and a conclusion that leaves the reader feeling fulfilled.  The students were then given the option of having their stories read, scanned and put on the “I STORY” website by some students from Delcastle.  This was completed last month.  I was just informed that Delcastle is beginning to upload your children’s istory - but this could take some time.  I have linked the page to our blog, so go ahead and check it out - we may not be on now - BUT WE WILL BE SO KEEP CHECKING!!!

This blog has some helpful information, skill practice, printable forms, etc. that is available to you.  The students work on this blog during class at times and find some of the sites very helpful. They would benefit from it at home also.  Look on the LEFT side of the blog to find helpful information:

MATH HELP:  Here are sites to help with all types of math questions and skills - with links to practice games.

READING SITE: This is the Harcourt site.  Here you will find some information and some extra practice on some skills we are working on in Reading.

READING THEMES:  Find the current theme we are working on in reading and then you can find links to topics that we have been reading about in reading.

SCIENCE:  Here is a link to a site on Motion and Design which is the topic we will be focusing on from now until the end of the year.

PAGES:  Check these out.  Here you can view vocabulary for each story, copy important papers, view important dates and find other helpful information.  ENJOY!!

DSTP

Just an FYI!  I just want to let all of you know that I was truly impressed with the hard work, perseverance, and brain power that your children displayed during the DSTP testing.  I will not get their scores until later in the year, but however they scored, they did a great job and I know you would be extremely proud of them.
